Exciting News

My sister, Bethany, got engaged last Thursday night:) I am so excited for her. See her blog for details (there is a link off to the right of this post titled Bethany's Spain Blog). She is getting married in Sevilla, Spain between now and July in a simple Justice of the Peace ceremony and then she will have a wedding in the States the summer of 2011. I am looking forward to helping her plan her wedding this summer when she is home. Her fiance is a wonderful guy and he makes my sister happy. I couldn't be more thrilled for her.

Other then that nothing really exciting going on here. Brad and I only have 3 more weekends for skiing, which make us very sad. Brad is in Seattle all next week for a trip with the University of Utah. We can't believe how fast 2010 is going. March is coming to an end and Easter is just around the corner.

Suprise Ski Trip

Brad being a wonderful boyfriend that he is suprised me with a ski trip to Grand Taghee this weekend. When I got home from work on Friday he told me to pack my things because we were going to Targhee for the weekend. For those of you who don't know, Grand Targhee is a ski resort in WY on the Grand Teton mountain range (my favorite mountain range). It was a wonderful suprise. Brad and I skiied Targhee last year and I just fell in love with the resort. The mountain has long steep runs (the one chair lift takes you up 2,000 verticle feet...thats a long steep run) and you can see for miles in all directions (the pictures don't do it justice).

Brad and I drove the 5 hours to our hotel in Driggs, ID (Targhee is right over the ID boarder in WY so we were only 20 min away from the mountain) and rested up for skiing on Saturday. We skiied all day on Saturday. We got to the mountain about 930ish and skiied until 330ish with only a short lunch break. It was a bright sunny day without a cloud in the sky. It was wonderful. After skiing we sat at the base of the mountain and enjoyed a beer.

That night we went out had dinner and went to bed to rest up for another long day of skiing.

Sunday was another great day. We skied all day again taking the last chair up at 4pm when the resort closed. At the end of the day we were beat and sad we had to get into the car and drive the 5 hours back to Salt Lake. We just love the views and the atomsphere of the Targhee resort. It was a great suprise and an amazing weekend. It was nice to get away and ski, sleep and eat and not worry about stuff that needed to be done.

See all the pictures I took off to the right:)

Valentine's Day

Brad and I spent Valentine's Day on the slopes. We went to Brighton Ski Resort. We had nice sunny weather and great conditions.

Where did January Go?

Wow! January just flew by. Brad and I haven't been up to much this month. We have been skiing on weekends. I believe we have been skiing 6 times so far this year. The mountains finally got some good storms last week and this week so we have a solid base and all the rocks are covered up.

Brad and I are playing on a coed indoor soccer team on Saturdays with some of Brad's friends from the U. It is a lot of fun. I also play on Wednesday night in a womens league with some girls from work. We win some games and we lose some games but in the end we get a great work out and have fun.
Other then skiing and soccer, we have been working, hanging out with friends and relaxing. Life is good:)

Christmas and New Years

Brad and I had a wonderful Christmas and New Years in Rochester. We were very happy to spend the holidays with family and friends. We had a great time catching up with everybody and eating all the food we miss since moving to Utah.
Now that we are back in Utah we will get back into our daily rotine of working, working out, hanging out and skiing on Sundays.

December Update

Not a lot going on here. We have our little two and half foot tree decorated with about 10 ornaments. We decided not to get a real tree this year seeing how we will be in Rochester for most of the holidays. We also have some red and green lights up around the apartment so are apartment is festive.
We haven't got a lot of snow yet this year which is disappointing. Brad and I are itching to ski. The ski resorts are opend but they aren't running any early season deals (like the did last year) and don't have a lot of runs opens. It isn't worth us using our passes or paying full price to ski 4 to 5 runs. We do have snow in our forecast so hopefully we should get out next weekend.
Brad handed in the final copy of his thesis. He no longer a graduate student anymore. Way to go Brad!!!
Other then that Brad and I are counting the days until we go home for the holidays. We haven't been to Rochester since last Christmas so we are very excited to see all of our family and friends.

Last Mountain Biking Trip

Brad and I went to Moab for our last mountain biking ride of 2009.

We rode a nice easy trail at Dead Horse State Park (nice name isn't it) on Saturday afternoon. Dead Horse remind me of the Grand Canyon because that whats there--a huge canyon. The trail was a great ride and the views were amazing. We definetly want to ride there again.

On Sunday we rode Slickrock. For those of you who don't know, Slickrock is the most famous mountain biking trail in the world. The trail is built on entrada sandstone--these are sand dunes were petrified million of year ago--and you can see the dunes in the pictures. The good thing about riding on rock is that it gives you good traction; the bad thing is that rock hurts when you fall on it. We found out that Slickrock is forty years old! It was originally laid out for motorcycles in 1969 by Dick Wilson. Brad and I rode the whole 10 mile trail. We were so beat when we were done but we enjoyed every minute of it.
