Amanda and Jason flew out to Utah for a long weekend and some skiing. They got really lucky, because they had great skiing conditions. I was really, really worried Sunday before they flew out, because Brad and I went skiing, and the slopes were all ice. I was so afraid that Amanda and Jason would hate skiing out here, because the conditions were awful. But Amanda did her snow dance, and it snowed all week before they came out. They got in Thursday night, and we woke up to go skiing Friday morning. It was wonderful because it was a bright sunny day, and there was about 5-7 inches fresh inches on powder on the slopes. Amanda and Jason handled the powder really well, I was impressed. It is very different skiing on powder then it is on a groomed trail. They had a great day of skiing and was beat by the end of the day. We went back to our place to rest, and then we headed out to dinner, and played eucker all night.
Saturday we slept in went out the breakfast and then did things around Salt Lake City. We took them to the U to see a nice view of the whole Salt Lake City Valley, and then we went to an outside mall and walked around. That night we stayed in and cooked a great steak dinner and played some more eucker. Brad and I don't have anybody to play eucker with out here so we try to play it whenever we can. Then we called it night becasue we knew we had another long day of skiing in front of us.
On Sunday we woke up and headed up to Park City to ski Deer Valley. The conditions were total different from Friday. It was cold and snowy all day, and the trails were quickly getting buried by snow. It was good skiing, but we had to limit ourselves to the groomed runs, and go in occassionaly to warm up. After skiing we walked around Park City a little so Amanda and Jason could buy some souviors, and head back to out apartment were we napped and ate pizza.
All in all in was a great ski weekend with our friends. It was nice to see them again and chat like old times in Rochester.
Pictures will be posted shortly, so check back.
